Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A guy was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying unlicensed by means of the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.

"These types of items being sold, usually online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
